BIOGRAPHY

As a child, I was fascinated by the beautiful iridescent colors in butterfly wings and rain puddles. Later, my artistic inclinations led me to the University of South Florida, a degree in art, and employment as an artist with Hallmark Cards in Kansas City.

I continued my study with classes at the Kansas City Art Institute, concentrating on printmaking, particularly etching. With my love of design, textural effects and limited color, I excelled in this medium, and won awards at the Plaza Art Fair and Crown Center Art Fairs. While at Hallmark, however, I also developed a line of greeting cards designed with silkscreen, and lots of color!

After leaving Hallmark, I was hooked on color. I discovered dichroic glass with its endless palette of iridescent colors, wonderful textural characteristics, and interesting color changing qualities. Since then, the focus of my artwork has been glass fusion, for which I have received a number of awards.

  ARTIST STATEMENT

Creativity, self-expression, and strength of design are of foremost importance in my artwork. The interesting play of light, the textural qualities and colors I can achieve with glass create excitement and make glass the ideal vehicle for my artistic endeavors.

My designs, although generally geometric, are slightly asymmetrical, with multiple textures and patterns, accenting or contradicting one another. I enjoy sharing with others my love for glass design and fusion.
